The City of Zagreb received the Esri ‘Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award’
ESRI, the world leader in software and technology for modelling and mapping GIS, among more than 100,000 nominated users, has selected the City of Zagreb for the “Special Achievements in GIS (SAG)” award.
The ‘Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award‘ is an award given by Esri to public and private users around the world in recognition of their outstanding work in the field of GIS. The city of Zagreb thus found itself in the company of large cities such as Munich, Wellington, and San Diego, but also private companies such as the American telecom operator Verizon and the Swedish furniture manufacturer IKEA.
The recognition for ‘Special Achievements in GIS’ will be awarded at the virtual world Esri conference in July, where the important achievements and application of GIS technologies of the City of Zagreb will be presented.
The capital of Croatia has been applying Esri solutions for many years achieving efficiency and transparency for all its cooperants and citizens. The City of Zagreb has laid the foundations for the implementation of the Smart City idea by fully implementing the 3D city system, establishing the Smart City HUB and the e-initiative system, which aims to involve the public in decision-making on important topics for the City of Zagreb.
The added value of GIS data is the visualization and sharing capability that was especially emphasized when dealing with the aftermath of the earthquake when the implementation of the ArcGIS solution led to the collection and updating of material damage data in a simple and efficient way. The use of GIS technologies is crucial in dealing with crisis situations, which has been recognized by the Public Fire Brigade of the City of Zagreb, which uses Esri’s solution to make faster operational decisions and quickly determine workforce requirements for a particular intervention.
